iGrowHort

A calm, editorial WordPress rebuild for a horticultural writer and educator, built around a seasonal narrative tied to their book Native by Nature. Every page follows one homepage-led design system, built for long-term readability over trends.

The Process

Challenge

iGrowHort needed a full rebuild around a new editorial direction: a calm, content-first platform tied to a seasonal narrative connected to the client's book Native by Nature, rather than another pass on a generic, pre-made theme.

Solution

We rebuilt the site in Bricks Builder as a fully custom system: a locked design system (warm paper background, charcoal text, muted leaf-green accent, Libre Baskerville headings, Source Sans 3 UI text) and reusable components, including a header with active-state styling, a seasonal hero, an editorial intro block, a three-feature section, a footer, and a standard internal page template. We built Guidance, Writing & Books, Digital Resources, Ecological Stewardship (About), Contact and Blog, all following the homepage as master layout. A seasonal framework, Spring-Belonging, Summer-Abundance, Autumn-Letting Go, Winter-Discernment, runs through hero imagery and tone across the site, delivered with responsive and performance optimization, a basic SEO structure, and two revision phases.

Result

The site launched matching the client's vision, and iGrowHort moved onto an ongoing maintenance and care plan with us. A WooCommerce phase is already planned for later in the year to expand the site with a store.

“He took the time to understand not just what I wanted the website to look like, but what I wanted it to achieve. The result is a clean, professional site that reflects my work.”
